Generators don't tend to have 50A outlets until the nominal is ~>10kw. That's not a hard limit, but 50A is 12kw. Generally speaking manufacturers won't put accessories on units that could exceed their capacity, for example in your house, you could use a 20A receptacle in a 15A circuit. The plug would physically fit and would function. That said, you could also be a dummy that would plug in something that actually requires 20A thinking it would be OK. Provided the breaker is sized for 15A you will be OK (breaker will trip), but it's just bad practice.
