We want to create encounters. To engage in conversation with people and their different stories, share perspectives and experience community. MENTSH UNITED stands for exchange, respect and new connections. We create platforms where differences don't divide, but enrich.

MENTSH, pronounced [mɛnʃ], is the Yiddish term for an empathetic person who acts with dignity and integrity and takes responsibility for their community. They navigate life's ups and downs with kindness, consideration, respect, and understanding for others. Simply put: genuinely likeable and human.
The MENTSH UNITED Ensemble. 13 musicians from different backgrounds stand together as a diverse team, symbolising team spirit and the longing for an open, democratic Europe that leaves no one on the bench.
UNITED.
UNITED stands - as in sport - for unity and team spirit. Our game plan is diversity, fair play and democracy. As a Jewish-European organisation, we believe in a strong sense of togetherness in which different origins, religions and perspectives are not opponents, but strengths. Our playing field is Europe - open, plural and democratic. We believe in a society in which everyone can play, regardless of identity or history. Our strength lies in the diversity of our team: Jewish, European, polyphonic and united. With a clear view, an open heart and fair rules, we stand up against anti-Semitism, marginalisation and intolerance. And for a Europe that leaves no one on the bench. We train dialogue, play an offensive role for human rights and defend democratic values with passion. Our goal is a Europe that remains colourful - and in which diversity is not an exception, but a game strategy.

MENTSH UNITED makes this vision tangible. Through music, dance, and film, we create creative encounters for positive coexistence. Celebrating our diversity, being Jewish, connecting pride and tradition with modern pop culture – that's our thing.

We build on the positive results of the festival #2021JLID – 1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany from which our organization JEWLIF developed with the initiative MENTSH UNITED. We no longer just look back, but gaze hopefully toward the future. We want a colorful Europe for everyone, where Jewish life naturally belongs.
